Wood Street Heroes – Two Wheel Claims

What has Two Wheel Claim been doing to support Wood Street Mission?

We are very proud to say that over the past 2 years we have donated over 100 bikes to Wood Street Mission as part of our Cycle Of Life project. In addition we have donated dozens of helmets and other accessories.

How did the Cycle Of Life project get started?

Dan who is our in house qualified bike mechanic was out of work during the pandemic and approached us to ask if there was absolutely anything he could do for our Law Firm, McHale and Co Solicitors. We had an idea to start collecting unwanted bikes around the Manchester area and then service and repair them and then give them to people who really needed a pick me up. We get parts cost price from M&J supplies in Denton and we took on a van lease and got Dan all set up to carry out this project. As well as supporting Wood Street, we have also donated bikes to lots of other local charities including Coffee4Craig, Lifeshare, Mustard Tree, Ronald McDonald House and more.

What made you decide to support Wood Street Mission?

Wood Street is a fantastic charity supporting local people who need support. WSM do a lot to help children and hearing the fantastic feedback of the gratitude from children receiving a bike is so heart-warming. We are a Law Firm who really care about families. For some of these families they are uprooted and move with nothing. A bike for a child gives them joy and a bike for an adult means that they can go out and get essential items, or travel for work or go riding with their child.

What’s it like to work with a small, local charity?

We are a law firm with offices in Altrincham, South Manchester and Heywood North Manchester. WSM is in the middle of us really so being able to collect bikes all over Manchester and do them up to be given second homes for local families in need just makes so much sense.

How does the team get involved with supporting WSM?

The team actively spread the word of mouth to find unwanted bikes and assist with collection , deliveries and drop off locations as well as helping Dan get them into top shape ready for use again.

What difference do you think having a bike can make to a child?

A bike is an outlet, an escape and a great form of exercise. It makes travelling easier whether that be for shopping, seeing friends or just for fun. The bikes we donate often become that child’s most prized possession.

What is the most rewarding part of supporting us?

The great feedback and occasional pictures we get from grateful families and knowing we have made a small positive difference to their lives.

What would you say to someone thinking of supporting Wood Street Mission?

Please do, it’s a fantastic charity with great people and very rewarding to support WSM.
