We couldn’t run our Christmas project without the support of our wonderful volunteers, who support us with everything from sorting donations to acting as personal shoppers. For Christmas 2024, our volunteering slots are now filled, but you can find more information about how to support the Christmas project here.
Volunteers are essential to our work. From our regular weekly volunteers who help families visiting us to corporate volunteers taking a day to help us sort through a mountain of donations, we would never be able to help so many families in need without them.
Our volunteering needs change on a weekly basis, depending on how busy our projects are and what events we have planned. If you are from a company and you want to volunteer with us please drop our fundraising team an email to fundraise@woodstreetmission.org.uk If you’re an individual wanting to volunteer please email florence@woodstreetmission.org.uk
PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR VOLUNTEERING SLOTS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE MONDAY TO FRIDAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8.30AM AND 4.30PM. WE ARE NOT OPEN DURING THE WEEKEND OR CHRISTMAS DAY.
Here are some examples of how invaluable our volunteers are:
- They help sort donations of clothes, bedding, toys and books to make available to families through our Family Basics room
- They help families when they visit Wood Street to pick up essentials, by explaining how things work and finding out what they need
- They help us at Christmas, to sort through thousands of donations of toys, ready for parents to pick the perfect present for their child
- They act as collection points for us, so supporters can drop off donations in one place for us to pick up – saving us time and petrol
- They follow us, like and share our posts on Facebook and Twitter, spreading the word about our work supporting local families
In short, our volunteers are amazing and we would love for you to be one of them!
